I've caught up with the fandom tagging and thought it time to open another Tea Break post.



Post now open for having a cuppa and chatting with your fellow writers about anything even vaguely fandom related.

Hi all! I'm rather curious what other people are using to determine which fandoms they write? I've alternated between looking at my book/dvd shelves with 'hmm what came out in x-year'.

Hi senmut! I'm approaching it from the angle of being able to write for older books (e.g. Biggles), tv shows (e.g. Colditz) and films (e.g. To Be or Not To Be 1942). Write the fic I've always wanted to see sort of thing :D.

As well as more popular media.

I have also looked at my book/dvd shelves and jotting down fandoms to cover.

I don't think I've developed a method so much as I see or read something and then think "is there something here I want to write about?"

Organized chaos, is my instinctive choice. :D

I think there are a lot of things you see/read that don't spark a new fandom love but do leave you with a few questions you'd like answered.

And this is why I tip my hat to my old job as a bookseller for making me alphabetize everything that goes on a shelf, DVDs included.
